Scientific conferences are not usually known for their entertainment value. But one presentation during the last AGU Joint Assembly here in Montreal was irresistible, because the presenter seemed a bit surprised by her own results. Whenever a scientist says “I don’t know,” that’s an enticing cue (for other scientists and journalists) to look deeper.
